Deconstructing orchestration load: comparing teacher support through mirroring and guiding

چکیده

Abstract Under the notion of “CSCL scripts”, different pedagogical models for structuring and supporting collaboration in classroom have been proposed. We report on a practical experience with scripts based Pyramid collaborative learning flow pattern supported by specific tool teacher-facing dashboard that implements mirroring guiding support. The input data our analysis stems from recordings interactions guided several teachers using PyramidApp levels teaching For analysis, we introduce coding scheme enabling quantitative comparison deeper epistemic network analysis. results show support enabled to perform more orchestration actions, targeted make announcements class (regarding time, phase transitions, students’ activity participation) when compared Teachers’ actionable differences observed under directed us deconstruct load into facets discuss how provisions correspond load.

Studying Teacher Orchestration Load in Technology-Enhanced Classrooms - A Mixed-Method Approach and Case Study

Teacher orchestration of technology-enhanced learning (TEL) processes plays a major role in students’ outcomes, especially in face-to-face classrooms. However, few studies look into the fine-grained details of how such orchestration unfolds, the challenges and cognitive overload that using technologies at a classroom level pose for teachers. This paper proposes a mixed-method approach to the st...

Changing Teacher Beliefs through ICT: Comparing a Blended and Online Teacher Training Program

Teachers’ beliefs towards learning, teaching and ICT may have a strong impact on how learning opportunities are designed and implemented. However, research has shown that providing effective opportunities for teachers to develop skills and competence with ICT tools in order that they effectively redesign their learning environments are not straightforward. In this study we examined two teacher ...

Comparing goal-oriented and procedural service orchestration

Goals form a declarative description of the desired end result of (part of) an orchestration. A goal-oriented orchestration language is an orchestration language in which these goals are part of the language. The advantage of using goals explicitly in the language is added flexibility in handling failures. In this paper, we investigate how goal-oriented mechanisms for handling failures compare ...

Duplicating and Deconstructing Virtual Load/Store Queues

ABSTRACT Virtual load/store queues (VLSQs) within existing physical load/store queues (LSQ) have been proposed as an effective mechanism for reducing energy losses and increasing performance. The VLSQ restricts reordering of memory operations by limiting the number of memory instructions visible to the issue logic. This decreases the amount of execution time wasted in replay traps and leads to ...

How does "mirroring" support joint action?

The discovery of mirror neurons (e.g., Gallese et al., 1996) has reignited interest in theories that postulate a tight functional link between perception and action. According to these theories, perception and action share a common representational code, with actions coded in terms of the distal perceptual effects that they produce (Prinz, 1997). Accordingly, action representations should be ac...
